Job Description
The Diocese of Bristol have an ambitious target to become net-zero by 2030, bringing forward its original proposed target of 2045 by fifteen years and as such we are enthused to progress our commitment at pace.
We are looking for an extraordinary person to support our Parishes to achieve their net zero targets and advocacy. This is a hugely varied and rewarding role and will involve working directly with our brilliant parish teams to support them with:
Developing their own net zero plan
Securing funding for works or projects by identifying opportunities and supporting with applications
Communicate to churches, schools and parishes to enable sustainable change, share information and learning, build capacity and collect data
Promote the Eco Church and Eco Champions networks to increase uptake and use these as drivers for change
Establish and develop w partnerships to support our parishes to enable their ambition
Provide guidance and resources for clergy and lay leaders to help parishes and communities engage in creation care.
The Diocese of Bristol is the administrative area of the Church of England that covers Bristol and Swindon. There are more than 200 churches in the Diocese, led by hundreds of clergy, and around 15,000 children and young people attend our 72 church schools.
This really is an exciting time within the Diocese as we are collaboratively shaping a new vision and set of priorities for the coming years in a process called Transforming Church. Together. We want to understand what we do well, what we can change for the better and how to create a positive way forward together.
Desired Skills and Experience:
Experience of working in or supporting environmental advocacy
Fundraising and bid writing
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Enthusiasm and a positive attitude to finding creative solutions
Hours: 23 hours per week (Working pattern to be discussed with manager)
Location: Based at our Stoke Gifford Office, hybrid role and very much a parish focussed.
Salary: £32,288 FTE (£21,217.83 pro rata)
