Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to step up to a managerial role in food production for a UK leading fruit delivery company, working closely with and reporting to the Production Manager. The main responsibility of this role is to ensure that our daily production process at our main hub in Croydon is correctly executed according to our high-quality standards, and that H&S rules and internal work procedures are strictly followed by all production staff. This position will manage the production lines and ensure they run as efficiently as possible as well as ensuring that our products are fit for purpose for customer expectations. The Line Leaders of each production line will report to you. Main responsibilities:• Drive the production lines to ensure we are maximising efficiencies without compromising fruit quality and our packing method • Liaise on quality issues with the Line Leaders on a daily basis • React on time to any fruit quality issues highlighted by the Production and Quality Managers andfeedback given by production staff; • Carry out the training of new packers joining the business (production line, fruit selection, etc.) • Carrying out a daily and continuous count of all products packed • Liaise with the Load Controller and the responsible Line Leader regarding the separation and control of different types of products, ensuring that the volume of products is correct, including High Risk products when existent • Reporting to the Quality Manager any quality issues detected in any products • Continuous monitoring of any missing baskets, reporting issues to the Production Manager • Reporting to the Production Manager any staff issues • Managing left-over products or products returned • Preparing daily paperwork • Supervising post-production activities • Supervise night staff working hours, start, finish and break times • Carry out weekly Line Leaders’ meetings • Supporting the Production Manager with other tasks required by the business Required skills: • A keen attention to detail and a willingness to strive for excellence is essential • At least 2 years’ experience in fresh produce/food manufacturing position • 1-2-years’ experience in people supervising/managing role • Tenacious mentality to achieve continuous improvement • Leadership and capacity to lead the production team when Production Manager is away • Organized and methodical person with a “Hands-on” attitude • Good communication skills (both written and verbal) • Excellent numerical skills • Energetic and driven • Able to drive a Ford Transit van (or similar 2.5 tonne van) • Able to work night shifts Working hours guideline: The working hours are 42 hours per week; Sunday 11pm – 8am, Monday 11pm – 8am, Tuesday 11pm – 7am, Wednesday 11pm – 7am, Thursday 11pm – 7am REF - CV41438SB Due to a high volume of responses, we cannot reply to each application individually.
