Salary Salary: Is dependent upon experience, please see further details of breakdown below:  Starting salary of £37,150: If you are new to the role, you will be appointed on this Salary increasing to £38,983: You will have the opportunity to work towards achieving a Professional Technician Sign off over 6-12 months, once completed your salary will increase to this Salary Increasingto £40,815: You will have the opportunity to work towards ‘Supporting Extraction, Refinery Flex Accountability’, once completed your salary will increase this Job Purpose About the Support Technician role The Refinery Support Technician role is operating and monitoring industrial plant, with a heavy focus on interacting with the silo air conditioning systems to maintain sugar quality. This is undertaken through operation of mechanical and electrical plant, analysing flow behaviour through equipment, temperatures and pressure, or setting operating parameters using computer automation and hands on interactions, for example cleaning/replacing critical air filters or clearing ductwork to maintain airflow. In addition to this, Support technicians are responsible for assisting in the installation, operation, planned preventative maintenance, and repair of machinery, such as pumps or compressors connected to plant operations. We currently have exciting opportunities for a career-minded, Health&Food safety focused individuals, with an interest in Science/Engineering to join our team as Support Technicians. This is mainly a hands on role, interacting with industrial equipment, but also involves using the latest process control and computer automation technology, whilst applying Science and Engineering knowledge learned. Core Accountabilities Operate the plant in a safe and compliant manner during start up, shut down, day-to-day and abnormal operations. Work in accordance with Planned Maintenance Work Orders and Silo Loading Schedule, to maintain quality of product. Solve operational issues through technical knowledge and skills along with practical fault finding using standardised tools and techniques. Work in partnership with Process lead, Shift Performance Manager, other shift&day-based teams to control and operate plant to maintain product within specified quality parameters. Skills, Knowledge and Competencies Experience of working in an operational team of varying disciplines. Understanding of hazards and controls associated with a complex industrial environments or production of food and feed. A proven track record of effective technical problem solving and fault diagnosis. Experience of working in a lean operating environment.   Good communication ability and ability to prioritise. Good analytical skills and ability to understand technical data. Self-driven with ability to plan own schedule. Ability to work well as an individual and with groups when required. Ability to demonstrate practical hands-on skills, competence, and knowledge of a relevant manufacturing process. A minimum 5 GCSE’s including Science, Maths and English, or equivalent.
