Electrical Design Engineer Interview Questions
Interviewer: Good morning, thank you for coming in today. Can you please introduce yourself and tell us a little about your background?
Candidate: Good morning, thank you for having me. My name is John, and I graduated with a degree in Electrical Engineering. My background includes experience in both design and project management roles.
Interviewer: Great. Can you describe your experience with electrical design software and tools?
Candidate: Of course. I have significant experience using AutoCAD, MATLAB, and PSpice. I am also familiar with PCB design software like Altium Designer and Eagle.
Interviewer: What specific electrical systems have you designed before, and what was your role in the design process?

2. Scenario: You have been tasked with designing an electrical system for a manufacturing plant that requires a significant amount of energy. How would you determine the voltage and current requirements for the system?
Candidate Answer: In order to determine the voltage and current requirements, I would first need to determine the total load that the system will be carrying. I would also need to consider the distance that the electricity needs to travel and factor in any resistance that may result from the distance. Finally, I would look at the efficiency of different electrical equipment, such as motors, that will be used in the plant and incorporate that into the design.
