Along with corporate HSES team, lead the GCC capabilities in terms of safety devices solutions, philosophy, approach for all the Lubrizol sites across the globe.
Perform complete adequacy checks, sizing, designing & providing most appropriate solutions & recommendations for all the inquiries received from various Lubrizol sites in timely manner.
Establish procedure / protocol to receive all the necessary data, including various scenarios, installations, upstream & downstream conditions / piping, Based on this data, select & size safety devices, perform adequacy, suggest recommendation, review the effectiveness of these suggestions / recommendations and built database for future reference.
Be proficient in applying Software for sizing safety devices such as Aspen HYSYS, Aspen plus, PVS application Suits by petrosof etc.
Establish a robust capability on all safety devices, rupture disc, PVRV, breather valves, thermal release valves selection criteria, types, installations & maintenance. Explore ways to maintain capabilities of highest level.
Lead and build the expertise, knowledge center with Lubrizol global engineering standards, Industry codes, AIchE, API, NFPA, OSHA for safety devices.
Continuously update self, to improve GCC capabilities with new developments, latest industrial best practices, new devices.
Establish and maintain contacts with external subject matter experts-SME on safety devices use- adequacy, renowned vendors etc.. so that this expertise can be readily utilized towards troubleshooting as and when required.
Continuously interact and build the relationship with various LZ site safety, engineering maintenance and operation team members to understand their repetitive problems, challenges, limitations, so that effective solutions can be provided in timely manner.
Maintain cordial cross functional relationship with other engineering team at GCC to leverage the solution providing capabilities of GCC.
Be a part of large global team, flexible and ready to support across all the global sites.
Requirements (education, experience, competencies, and specific job requirements):
Education, Experience & Industry type
BE / ME (preferred) Chemical engineer from a reputed university.
12+ years of overall experience.
In his last assignment major deliverables should be as a team leader (minimum 4 years) focusing on the safety devices. The experience should be in a consulting firm or in design / technical services department of a specialty chemical process industry
Candidate having ~ 2/3 years of actual field / shopfloor relevant experience in specialty chemical process industry is preferred.
Strong and proven, in-depth, core expertise on the subject that makes him capable for the role. As well as capable developing GCC capabilities.
Experience in a Global organization environment will have clear advantage.
Adequate working knowledge of Microsoft Office (also including Power point for presentations & spread sheets), Various forms of database
Experience and Skills:
Hands on thorough in-depth knowledge and experience in selecting, designing safety devices requirement for various size & type of process equipment. Such equipment could be operating at very high pressure to atmospheric pressures, or under vacuum.
Should be able to build various scenarios (to ensure all the risks are covered) for sizing safety devices & perform adequacy checks, certifying the suggested size & type of safety devices.
Clear understanding & updated knowledge on codes, standards.
Candidate himself should have direct involvement, during his experience in detailing, specification, finding solutions – troubleshooting, interacting with vendors.
Ability to understand the problem / requirements through remote interaction, asking prompt questions, analyzing provided data.
Earlier experience of dealing / interacting with renowned local and global safety devices manufacturers and consulting firms is preferred.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Attention to detail and accuracy, particularly understanding problems & exploring correct solution, suggesting options / recommendation.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with the team & other LZ stake holders
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
