Requisition Number: 64800 Corning-SGD Pharma JV Profile: Corning Incorporated (NYSE:GLW) and SGD Pharma announced a joint venture that includes the opening of a new glass tubing facility to expand pharmaceutical manufacturing in India and allows SGD Pharma to adopt Corning’s Velocity® Vial technology platform.   Combining SGD Pharma’s vial-converting expertise with Corning’s proprietary glass-coating technology, the collaboration will enhance vial quality, improve filling-line productivity, and speed the global delivery of injectable treatments. SGD Pharma and Corning have broken ground on a new pharmaceutical glass tubing facility in Telangana, India. Together, the two companies will help drugmakers respond to increasingly complex capacity and quality issues while meeting global demand for critical medicines. Job Location: Vemula, Telangana, India Purpose of the Position: Support production of 24 hours melting/finishing operation with solid engineering principles focused on process optimization and continuous improvement Ensure process stability and support daily operations Customer satisfaction target achievement Day to Day Responsibilities: Monitor all of the process trend charts to make sure the process is under control. Check and confirm daily operation checklist to ensure all the operation compliance. Support the 1st level trouble shooting and fix process variation on daily operations. Consult and report out 2nd level troubleshooting issue or any potential issue. Upgrade SOP and support operations for safety improvement, efficiency improvement, process variation reduction, training for key process Focus to meet engineering target by upper organization / plant Focus on furnace repairing and downtime management. Involved in tank life strategy development. Involve and support any plant level project such as start-up, equipment upgrade, new technology, process improvement, etc. Create and support developments in equipment design and new process that can improve or enhance the current process capabilities. Support to achieve plant cost reduction and efficiency goals.  Project involved with: Support plant start-up project Any plant engineering project during day to day operations Lead or coordinate the plant-level cost reduction projects.  Reporting Structure: Immediate Supervisor: Division Engineering Manager Education or Experience: Bachelor’s Degree plus 5-10 years engineering experience preferably in a continuous glass manufacturing environment Travel Requirements: Technically curious – seeks information needed to succeed in becoming a glass finishing/ packaging expert. Strong technical skills – understanding of mechanical engineering to apply to equipment troubleshooting, process optimization, and develop new design concept for equipment improvement Analytical skills – ability to use rigorous data analysis and distill into concise results.
