The RoleThe Strategic Sourcing Specialist is responsible for acting as the liaison between internal customers (operations support), vendors, and internal teams to ensure the accurate, timely, and efficient delivery of packaged product orders and sourcing new ingredients. Using relevant data, they will anticipate customer needs, proactively optimize efficiencies, and leverage our manufacturing, warehousing, and logistics systems to drive customer satisfaction. The position works closely with Retail on various seasonal promotions and projects. Primary Roles and Responsibilities Manage packaged product inventory across multiple locations, collaborating closely with regional teams and executing ERP transactions for customer orders and purchased goodsPlan and oversee packaged goods routing to maximize operational efficiencyAct as the primary point of contact for packaged product procurement (anything for mill usage and/or retail sales), ensuring timely and accurate coordinationOrder all retail products requiring internal logistics and storageUtilize systems, tools, and data to forecast order patterns and fulfill them efficientlyCommunicate proactively with the operations team to provide updates on delivery timelinesFoster open communication between teams to ensure optimization of processes and information flowWork seamlessly within the existing Procurement team environmentContinuously evaluate and optimize packaged product inventoryAddress inventory and logistical challenges promptlyCollaborate closely with the Retail Technical Sales Specialist to support promotional activitiesAnalyze, plan, and coordinate early orders in coordination with the Retail team to ensure timely distributionDetermine order quantities based on minimum/maximum thresholds, inventory levels, and anticipated requirements, seasonal and otherEnsure timely and accurate inventory valuation and optimizationResolve variances and approve vendor invoices in a timely mannerSupport regulatory compliance, quality initiatives, and supplier and ingredient approval processesGenerate and distribute the Open PO Report for the Procurement Team weeklyReview and generate PO reports for each location weeklyWork closely with Operations to schedule deliveries via vendors or align with the truck scheduleAttend and actively contribute to L10 meetings and stakeholder discussionsAbility to proactively adapt to changing product demands and usage patternsMindset to advance within the Procurement groupPerform other duties as assigned Skills & Experience RequiredStrong enthusiasm for continuous learning and a willingness to embrace new challengesCollaborative mindset with the ability to build effective relationships with internal stakeholders and consultants, prioritizing customer satisfactionAdaptability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environmentExcellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with experience engaging with diverse personality typesDetail-oriented, resourceful, and equipped with strong analytical and decision-making abilitiesProven ability to prioritize tasks based on importance and urgencySelf-motivated with the capability to work independently and as part of a teamWillingness to challenge the status quo and suggest process improvements proactivelyGeneral understanding of manufacturing and accounting systems, including inventory, transfers, purchase and sales orders, and invoicingDemonstrates honesty, integrity, and strong ethical standards in all decisions and actions Qualifications include3-5 years of experience in an agriculture-related, feed manufacturing or supply chain role preferredGeneral understanding of the agriculture and livestock production industries preferredIntermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills (particularly Excel) and experience with accounting software are beneficialSupply chain management diploma or equivalent experience Role LocationOffice-based role out of Strathmore, AB (40-hours a week in office)Ability to work outside of regular office hours as requiredSome travel required (<5%) Our current success!Since 2005, More Than Just Feed and its family of Brands have proudly served Western Canada’s feed industry with high-quality products and services.
