Description of Organization: Ag Advantage Ltd is an independent crop inputs retailer with locations in Meadows, MB and Oakbank, MB. Ag Advantage Ltd. has grown to include partnerships with Foster Ag Services in Arborg, MB and Pinewood Crop Service Ltd. in Pinewood, ON. The foundation of Ag Advantage’s business is relationships with producers, employees and communities. Job Title: Sale Agronomist Position Description: Reporting to the Location Manager, you will play a key role in the continued growth of our business by aiding farmers have successful crop yields and maximize productivity. An essential part of your role will be developing, maintaining and continuing to grow strong relationships with our customers by providing sound agronomic advice, understanding their needs and recommending suitable products to help optimize their crop production. As a Sales Agronomist with Ag Advantage, you will provide advice on crop protection, soil health, nutrient management, pest and disease control, while ensuring our customers receive personalized agronomic support. You will be conducting research, analyzing agricultural data and preparing farm plans. You will also be scouting fields to provide agronomic solution options, while also considering grower programs, past purchases, agronomic, economic and environmental conditions and customer preferences. You will have the opportunity to conduct field demonstrations, organize grower meetings and represent our company at trade shows and other industry events to promote product offerings. The benefit for you will be your own continued professional development and growth through, liaising with researchers, educators and industry experts on matters pertaining to farming, pest, weed and disease control and agriculture. It is important part of the job to gather and report on market trends, competitor activities and our customers feedback to contribute to our knowledgeable team. You will have the opportunity to operate an ATV for field scouting, our seed treater and participate in training to continue to grow your expertise and knowledge on new and existing products, agronomic and industry trends and identify marketing and sales initiatives. Regular travel within Manitoba surrounding areas is required as part of this position. If you are looking for a career in sales and marketing in the agriculture industry and have:Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Agriculture or related experience.Minimum 3 years experience of agronomy or related sales experience, preferably within the agricultural sector.A Professional Agrologist Certificate or willing to obtain Certified Crop Advisor and 4R CertificationsStrong knowledge of crop production techniques, soil science and plant nutritionValid Class 5 Driver’s license with clean driver’s abstractProficient computer skills (Microsoft Office), experience with data, analytical or scientific software related to crop inputs, effective written, oral and numeracy skillsThe ability to adapt to change, excellent with communication, the ability to work independent and as part of a team, exceptional customer service and networking skills, an active listener, decision maker and have competent time management skills.The ability to handle sitting for long periods of time at a desk in a temperature-controlled building, as well as, physically walking and standing on uneven terrain for long periods of time outdoors in variable weather conditions.The ability to work overtime, weekends and some statutory holidays during peak season (May-July) and regular hours (0800 -1700hrs) during other months.Motivation for the opportunity to travel at times to build customer relations and expand industry knowledge.
