As a Cultivation Intern, you will actively learn and participate in the many aspects of the life cycle of plants for a cannabis company. You'll keep an eye on the health of the plants, making sure they get water, food, and are free from pests. You’ll learn about pruning the plants to help them grow better and increase their yield. When it's time, you'll harvest the cannabis, ensuring its top quality, and then process it by drying, curing, and storing it correctly. You'll need to follow all the laws related to cannabis growing, keep detailed records of all your cultivation activities and inventory, regularly inspect the plants, and keep the growing area clean.Possible internship locations include: Fenwick, ON and Cayuga, ON. Please indicate your preference in your application. Main Duties/Responsibilities:Responsible for taking care of plants which includes:Hand watering, spacing, cloning, pruning, transplanting, leafing, tying, harvestingInspect plants and bud product for deficiencies and report abnormalities to supervisor immediatelyAssisting with irrigation systems and preparing fertilizer tanksPerform tissue culture and micropropagation methodologiesMaintain crop and breeding recordsWork cohesively with coworkers Keep a tidy and organized working area and a team playerResponsible of communicating with the team leadsApply pesticide spray to crop in accordance with licensing regulations  Inspect product for deficiencies and report abnormalities to supervisor immediatelyFollow product labels, determine label ratesClean and disinfect equipmentFollow strict internal protocols and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as well as following current Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).Work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OSHA, 2000) Adhere to all safety procedures and protocols while consistently wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to ensure a safe and compliant work environmentFollow the Cannabis Act, Cannabis Regulations, and any new revisions     Communicate with supervisors and managementOther duties as assigned.   Qualifications and Education Requirements:Horticulture, Agronomy, Botany or related Certificate or Diploma, is preferred.Basic scientific understanding of horticulture, botany or agriculture is preferredMust be able to lift 25 pounds, as required.
