Join our team as an Agronomy & Field Specialist, where you?ll represent LPC at the farm level, partner with our local growers to ensure food safety compliance, enhance productivity and sustainability and support initiatives aligned with LPC?s values and goals.?You will also work closely with our Regional Agronomists and our Field Production and Manufacturing teams to ensure that the maximum volume of the highest quality creamer potato is produced and delivered from within your assigned growing region.??Reporting to the Regional Agronomist in Southern Alberta, this role offers the possibility of a hybrid/remote work arrangement based in either Southern Alberta or Southern Saskatchewan. The standard workweek is Monday to Friday with a requirement of travel within the assigned growing region. Flexibility will be required as the focus of this position will change throughout each part of the year.?Key Responsibilities for this position include (but not limited to):Crop & Field Management:Assist in the development and implementation of farm agronomy plans to optimize crop production and best practices.Conduct regular visits to monitor crop growth stages and assist farmers in troubleshooting issues related to crop growth, pest infestations, soil health, or nutrient deficiencies.Facilitate communication between the growers and Agriculture team.Scout crops in the growing season and help identify opportunities and challenges that impact the crop from achieving quality and yield goals. ? Maintain general oversight of potato storage conditions.Maintain accurate details throughout the season regarding creamer and seed crop.Support the potato delivery schedule through in-depth knowledge of the inventories, and communicate challenges and opportunities to the Planner.Responsible for the quality of seed and creamer potatoes that are shipped off farms and that customers are receiving products that meet their expectations.?Collaboration:Assist with planning and execution of Annual Agronomy Meeting with grower groupOrganize and lead workshops and training sessions for growers on best practices in potato cultivationParticipate in daily/weekly/monthly meetings and update the team on the potato supply situation.Gather and communicate critical information on the crops and share throughout the organization.?Desired Qualifications:3+ years of related experience in potato production or in a potato manufacturing work environmentDegree/Diploma in Agriculture is preferredProfessional Agrologist designation or eligibility to acquireCertified Crop Advisor designation or eligibility to acquireKnowledge of data collection and reporting??Key Competencies:Self-motivated and driven with the ability to work independently and as part of a team within a fast-paced environment is essential.Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build and maintain relationships with cross-functional teams, growers and other external stakeholders.Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to prepare detailed reports on findings and recommendations.Organized with a strong attention to detail to ensure timely completion of daily/weekly/monthly tasks.Flexible and adaptable with the ability to work effectively and efficiently in a flexible hybrid office environment.Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, specifically Excel and Outlook with an understanding of ERP systems.Ability and willingness to travel to growing regions as required (up to 25-30%)Valid Driver?s License & Passport required for travel to LPC facilities, external facilities and work on-site or to attend meetings/training as needed.??Work Environment:Office Setting: This role will work in a hybrid office environment requiring the use of computers, various software and tools to track progress, manage schedules, and communicate with team members.Travel: Regular visits to farms within the assigned growing region will be required to monitor progress, address issues, and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards. Depending on the farm locations, travel may be required, including overnight stays.Work Hours:?Typically, this role will work standard business hours, but flexibility is required.During peak (planting and harvest) seasons, extended hours (including evenings) may be necessary.Physical Demands:?Mobility: Ability to move around various field sites, including walking on uneven terrain, and standing for extended periods.Lifting: Ability to lift and carry items such as samples, equipment, and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds.Manual Dexterity: Ability to perform tasks requiring fine motor skills, such as using handling small tools and operating field instruments.Visual Acuity: Ability to observe and assess crop conditions, read and interpret data, and use computer screens and other digital devices.Communication: Ability to communicate effectively with team members, farm workers, and other stakeholders, both verbally and in writing. Proficiency in English is required.Environmental Conditions: Ability to work in various environmental conditions, including exposure to extreme weather (heat, cold, rain), dust, and agricultural chemicals.Physical Activity: Ability to perform physical activities that may include bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, and repetitive motions.LPC offer a competitive salary, comprehensive benefits package & RRSP matching program.
