The team
The Commercial and Employment Law team is responsible for partnering with key internal ASIC stakeholders including by advising on, and managing, legal and compliance risks associated with ASIC procurements (under the Commonwealth Procurement Rules and Public Governance, Performance and Accountability (PGPA) legislation) and other commercial arrangements. The team advises on a broad range of commercial matters affecting ASIC as a Commonwealth entity and regulatory agency, including matters of critical importance to the achievement of ASIC's strategic objectives.
As a Lawyer within Corporate Legal Services, you will be responsible for working as part of a team to:
Advise ASIC stakeholders on commercial arrangements, MOUs, major procurements, IP, grants, advertising, and PGPA Act compliance
Provide advice on Commonwealth policies and legislation
Assess legislative changes and emerging issues and assist with ASIC's compliance and reporting obligations
Work under senior lawyers' supervision on complex matters and collaborate with other lawyers and stakeholders
Legal qualifications and eligibility for a Restricted Legal Practicing Certificate in Australia.
1-3 years+ of post-admission experience relevant to the role (government, in-house, or law firm).
Strong legal advice writing and verbal communication skills.
Excellent organizational and time management skills, ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge of the Corporations Act, ASIC Act, financial services legislation, PGPA Act, Legal Services Directions, and other relevant laws and policies.
