Learn more about our extraordinary teams building inspiring projects in our Impact Report.  Project Overview: An exciting opportunity currently exists for an experienced Lead Civil Engineer - CSA EGS to join Bechtel’s Mining & Metals Project team in Perth, Western Australia, delivering a strategic project for a top tier mining customer. Job Summary: As Lead Civil Engineer, you will conduct field investigations and client interviews to determine work scope and cost estimates for a project’s civil aspects. You will lead design, development, modification, evaluation, and constructability reviews of civil components and processes. Your technical expertise will ensure the unique and complex requirements of a project’s civil/structural aspects are met. Major Responsibilities: Plans, schedules, conducts, or coordinates detailed phases of the civil engineering work for a global business unit, a project or staff group to include the preparation of original designs layouts, details, drawings and specifications for structures, building, roadways, railroads, etc. Designs, develops, modifies, and evaluates Civil components and processes utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides, Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs)​ and Design Control Check List (DCCL) and Design Review Notices (DRNs)​ Designs structures using advanced knowledge of structural analysis, including statics, dynamics, and materials engineering Determines the appropriate use of various structural elements such as steel, wood, masonry, and concrete to ensure appropriate material is used based on load or stress requirements Analyzes problems with conflicting design requirements, sketches ideas and possible solutions Analyzes and reports on the suitability of unconventional materials, techniques and/or difficult coordination requirements Plans, coordinates, or prepares equipment, work and material specifications, bid evaluations and award recommendations Prepares procurement and subcontract requisition documents and performs associated technical bid evaluations with award recommendations Provides assistance to project and construction management in identifying and complying with project Civil requirements and in addressing issues as they arise during project execution​ Interface with geotechnical and hydrology consultants Education and Experience Requirements: Requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10  years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience​ Required Knowledge and Skills: Career-level position within field​ Considered highly skilled and proficient in discipline​ Seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of area of specialization, resolves a wide range of issues in creative ways Total Rewards/Benefits There are many reasons why choosing to join Bechtel is one of the best career decisions you will ever make.
